Zune Lover: Justin Anderson

A side from being a Zune Lover, what are your hobbies?
Write. Love. Laugh. Plus I love to catch a good flick, read a good book, and eat good food. Not to mention listen to as much good music as humanly possible.

I do believe I live hooked up to my earphones, they are sort of like oxygen to me. How much is music part of your life?
It’s sort of a big deal. I’ve been a DJ for over 12 years now. I see the powerful effect music has nearly every weekend. Music is constantly playing in my head. I’m seriously a freakin’ human jukebox.

That’s awesome! It has always been a fantasy of mine to become a DJ. But for now, I just stick to sending friends songs I like on Zune. When did you buy a Zune?
I got it a couple weeks after launch, November 2006. I had the Zune’s daddy, the Toshiba gigabeat, and I was highly pleased with the interface, so when I saw the Zune, and heard it had wifi, I was sold.

Even if the WiFi sold you on the product, what is your favorite feature of the Zune?
The fact that the Zune is durable, different, customizable, can share pictures, songs, playlists, and has a great interface and colors — me satisfied.

Do you have a Zune Pass?
I just signed up for one this week coincidently. It was a long deliberating decision. It came down to whether I wanted to look at how big of a stack of CDs I could slowly build, or if I wanted to listen to more music. With the Zune Pass, I can listen to a plethora of music without any hesitation. Yes I just said plethora. It’s amazing to hear a friend say, hey you need to check out the new album by the Strokes, and get home and listen to my heart’s content.

We live hooked up to the interwebs — What are some sites you enjoy going to?
I’m a subscriber to last.fm, and love to trade CDs via lala.com, two sites any music lover shouldn’t go without.

What could be added to the Zune that would make it totally kick ass?
My dream would be a wifi network you can connect to and stream the whole of the Zune catalog anywhere, anytime, directly from your Zune. Plus add in the ability to share your tunes, pictures, playlists via the network remotely (the same way it works personally) with Zune users across the US and hopefully soon, the globe. Now that would be “The Social”. And then even beyond that, add in last.fm support to help you connect with other users who share your music taste and let the trading truly begin.

Will you be getting the new Zune?
Depends on what it brings to the table. I won’t buy something blindly, but if it has features that show it’s moving into the online dream I have, I’ll definitely be there with bells on.

Tell us how you are part of the Zune Community?
I found my place at Zunerama. Help mod over there. Great bunch of Zuners and non-Zuners who end up getting into some great conversations about the Zune now, and how it can change for the better in the future.
