Snippet Bio: Born in Decatur, Ga., Ryan Shaw grew up in a deeply religious Pentecostal family. He began singing in church at the age of five and later formed a family group with his four brothers called the Shaw Boys.
“We didn’t listen to secular or pop music either in or out of our house,” Shaw explains. “So my early musical influences are all from the gospel world−singers like Darryl Coley, Keith Brooks, James Moore, and the Pace Sisters.”

Snippet Bio: Angelique Kidjo is a four-time Grammy-nominated singer, composer, and performer. Born in the West African country of Benin, she launched her career at the age of six in the port village of Cotonou, relocated to Paris in 1980 due to political turmoil, and then ultimately to New York City where she currently resides.
As a child, Kidjo was mesmerized by an iconic album cover of Jimi Hendrix , which led her to follow the African roots of music from the United States, Brazil, and Caribbean. The results were the Grammy-nominated trilogy of albums, Oremi, Black Ivory Soul, and Oyaya!.
